What is wrong
Every image on your Store has a field for a short description of what it shows. On most Stores that field is empty, because filling it is slow work and nothing on screen complains when you skip it.
Two kinds of people read that field. Anyone using a screen reader, who hears it instead of seeing the photo. And search engines, which use it to understand what the image is.
What it costs you
For a buyer using a screen reader, an empty field means the product page announces the word "image" and moves on. They know something is there. They do not know what it is, which colour it comes in, or which one of the six photos is the back of the garment.
For everyone else it is a quiet loss: your product photography is invisible to image search.
What we do
We go through your product images and write the description for each one. Not the file name, not the product title repeated six times, but what that particular photo actually shows. Decorative images get marked as decorative, so a screen reader skips them instead of reading noise.
Purely decorative images are not charged.
What you get
Every image with its description written and saved in your Store, a count of how many were empty before, and a short note, in plain English, of what changed.
Price and time
$2.50 per image. Five working days, counted from the day we have access.
We count your images from your Store address before you pay, so you know the number first. On a catalogue of any size this is the number that surprises people, which is exactly why we give it first.
How you pay for this one
This is one of the fixes we have to count, so it is paid from Fix Credit. You put $295 on your Store, we count, and the exact number comes off your balance. What you do not spend stays there with no date on it.
If you do not know how many you have
The Store Check counts them along with everything else a buyer can trip over. It is $195, and that $195 lands on your balance.
